Guru Raja received his Bachelor of Science (Chemistry honors) and Master of Science in chemistry from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Andhra Pradesh, India. During his masters he worked on Defluoridation of Water Using Zirconium Impregnated Coconut Fiber Carbon. For his doctoral studies, he worked under the supervision of Prof. Santanu Bhattacharya at the Department of Organic Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. During his PhD he worked on the synthesis, aggregation and gene transfection properties of redox responsive polymers and cationic lipids, glycolipids and Phospholipid-Cationic lipid mixtures. He joined Prof Pan group at UIUC in July 2015. His research interests include understanding self-assembly phenomenon and developing functional materials for therapeutical application.
